The Touch of Morning in Central Australia

The morning light chases away the shadows that have passed over during the passage of the night. Rays of sunrise gleam in the sky, and beneath, everything stirs and lifts its head to see the new day and feel the breath of what could be.

Mornings in Central Australia wake up the red soil and silver gums. The sun reveals the landscape, playing on the curves of Uluru, illuminating dry riverbeds, and drawing into its warmth creatures and humans alike. New beginnings emerge in the first hour of daylight. It brings a second chance, an as-yet unspoiled day that can be filled with all manner of things.

Good and bad, as we begin to make our mark on a thus far unlived day, we become part of the endless ribbons of life that blow across the Central Desert. Only when we are robbed of time, when the day is stolen from us, do we learn to appreciate its meaning and possibilities fully. For many in recent months, ill health and the pressure of the world at large have felt heavy. Sometimes the only certain thing is the dawn of the next day breaking; sometimes even that is thrown into a state of flux.

Whenever you can, stand in the morning light and feel its shimmer on your skin. Take nothing for granted. We only get a finite number of mornings to experience. Absorb their beauty and their breadth and be thankful that you can still feel the light touch of daybreak.
