Out bush to clear your head

The middle of town is not always the most pleasant place to be. People, traffic, artificial noise – sometimes, leaving the mess of busyness that is our day-to-day lives is a necessity. Even a small place like Alice Springs comes with its own pressures. Going out bush to clear your head can reset your outlook and provide a break.

Away from buildings and noise, the landscape looms majestically. There is space, there is peace, and there is another world built from red rocks and blue skies. As we relax into the rhythms of the outback, we can let go of the tension work and relationships bring.

The sunshine of the day casts itself over the undulating hills of the MacDonnell Ranges, reaching the blue horizon, uncluttered and free. At day's end, being out bush at night reveals a sky speckled with stars, and darkness thick with the breath of the desert. The night ends with the filter of dawn, reminding us that time is cyclical and continual, and yes, in some places goes more slowly.

Mental health is a high priority. It is damaging to live life on a treadmill. Going out bush allows us to step off, hopefully sharing the moment with friends, always knowing that an alternative to the madness and rush of our normal responsibilities exists. Always, when you look above the boundaries of town to the horizon, know that somewhere else, there is quiet and peace, waiting for your arrival.
