It rains
sporadically; sometimes it’s hot, sometimes cold; it’s windy, and it's breezeless. These are the in-between days of Alice as winter brews but has not
yet settled. Locals are thankful for the brief reprieve of cooler weather when
a balmy day crops up and quick to groan when the full force of the heat returns.

The water holes are partially full. Unusual amounts of rain have not yet all drained away. There is enough to swim in some places but not enough in others. Some waterholes are still too icy to fully submerge in.
In-between days can be
light and dark. Light, because the chasm of uncertainty can be filled with
opportunity and promise; dark, because it can be filled with evil. If we fall
down on the journey and don’t get back up, we relinquish our right to build the
future. And the future is where hope lies.
