Central Australia - The View from Afar
What do you see when you look at
Central Australia from afar? Fractures or community connections that bind people
together? Do you see the good or the bad? Is your view distorted by distance? I
invite you to come closer.
Come closer and look through the haze to see a place where it is possible to be fully alive. See a landscape scattered with mountaintops and blue sky. In the night season, shadows as dark as ash may descend, but within their depths shine stars.

Listen to a language that speaks of hardship – but also resilience. Find a will that has stood solid through trial and triumph. For, despite it all, we are still here. Life goes on.
The breath of the desert rises and
falls, and story and dream encase the earth. Central Australia itself is a
story, often whispered in tones of shock and disbelief, not all of which are
unwarranted. But it is also a place of blinding sunlight, freedom, welcome, and
please stay awhile. Those of us who live in Central Australia have survived and
endured, but don’t forget that many of us have also thrived.
Come closer and see for yourself.
