What Might a Day Bring?

Some days hold sunshine; some days hold storms. All begin with the dawn and end with nightfall. What stretches between these two events is called time, and time can hold many things. We only have so much control over what fills these hours.

How do we wake in the morning? With expectation or dismay? The days allotted to us bring different experiences. They make up seasons, and some seasons are filled with heartbreak. Far away from the ones we love and the life we want, the only way to get through them is to endure.

Other seasons bring us joy and pleasure. Life is a thing of beauty to be savoured and felt and lived. We count our many blessings and look forward to what comes next. We draw on our strength to face the good and the bad, taking and learning from each, growing as we traverse the different patterns of what has been gifted to us.

For some people, the days are cut short too early. They leave us behind. In their passing, we sometimes value what we have left more deeply. There often seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. We filter these experiences through the lens of our attitude. The most important thing is not to fear. The next chapter is unfolding.

Face it with courage.
