Taking a Break
The town of Alice Springs lies in the heart of Australia. It is located on the red earth of the Central Desert. Yet, for those who live within its boundaries, one day can roll into another as life takes its toll.
The view from within the town of the faraway tips of the MacDonnell Ranges always brings a reminder that there is more out there. Every now and then, we need to get out of Alice to breathe in the freedom of the outback and taste the desert without the pressure of everyday life.

Day
trips break up the drumbeat of ordinary life. Standing on the golf course
in Desert Springs, you can see the sky dropping behind the ranges, hinting at other places and mysteries. There is plenty to do in town, but you
haven’t experienced the fullness of the Red Centre until you’ve tested its limits.
In town, the afternoon light sets on the green spaces allocated for recreation. People walk dogs, play golf, jog when it is cooler, and ride bikes. All of them are taking a break from the stresses of modern life in one of the most laid-back parts of Australia. But no one can ignore the lure of the horizon and the promise of adventure. Everyone needs to get out sometimes; driving back into town after exploring is bearable because of the freedom we have just experienced. This escape loiters on our doorstep, and we can return to it as needed. It is part of the magic of Central Australia.
