About Me
The Australian Outback stretches across the inland reaches of this vast continent. My corner was in the Northern Territory. The name 'Red Centre' is drawn from the flame-coloured earth and refers to the desert landscape.
The isolation of Alice Springs makes the lifestyle there unique. The town is cradled in a timeless land and maintains an Indigenous culture stretching back millennia. Alice Springs is now home to a melting pot of people from diverse backgrounds, all bound together by the remoteness of the location, and fringed by the copper-hued MacDonnell Ranges that loom over the town itself.
The town is isolated, yet connected through technology and travel to the rest of the continent and the world. And of course, many townspeople are linked to other places through relationships with friends and family. It is my hope that as you read this blog, you will get a sense of what it is like to live in one of Australia's most remote towns, with all its natural beauty, and its challenges.
